Syria does not want to negotiate with Israel - Ahmed al-Shar'
President Ahmed al-Shar' rejected Syria's accession to the "Abraham Accords" and recalled that Israel is still pursuing its policy of occupation in the Golan Heights.
"The agreements were concluded between Israel and non-neighboring countries that have no conflict with this state. The situation in Syria is different. We have the Golan Heights - occupied land," the Syrian leader said.
He stressed that the priority for Damascus is to implement the 1974 UN-brokered agreement or restore a similar agreement aimed at stabilizing southern Syria under international supervision.
According to Al-Shar', Syria's approach is based on the principle of "zero problems" with its neighbors. However, the issue of normalizing relations with Israel is not being considered.
