Suspects arrested in mosque arson attack in Russia
Three teenagers in Russia are suspected of setting fire to a mosque in Yegoryevsk. According to investigators, they had previously joined the banned nationalist extremist group National Socialism/White Power.
Earlier, on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, on the night of March 30, a mosque on Paris Commune Street caught fire. The fire quickly spread to the roof and second floor of the building. The fire was extinguished, but the mosque now requires serious repairs. Experts have determined that the cause of the fire was arson.
On April 20, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow Region opened a case against the teenagers under the article "Participation in a terrorist organization"; they could face imprisonment for 10 to 20 years.
