Serbian extremists desecrated Muslim graves
Serbian right-wing extremists have desecrated a Muslim cemetery where victims of the Srebrenica genocide are buried. Footage circulating on social media shows them placing crosses on graves and reinforcing them with concrete to make them harder to remove.
The incident took place in the village of Kraglivode, near Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to local media, the attack was organized by a Serbian Orthodox priest, Luka Babic. It is reported that a criminal case has been opened against Babic.
"On January 19, Babić and his accomplices secretly entered the Muslim martyrs' cemetery near Srebrenica and carried out illegal actions with the aim of inciting national and religious intolerance and humiliating the local population."
On July 11, 1995, Serb forces attacked the UN-designated "safe area" of Srebrenica, killing more than 8,000 Bosniaks. The bodies of the victims were found in more than 570 locations across the country. The massacre was recognized as genocide by the UN General Assembly, and July 11 was designated as a day of remembrance for the victims.
