On January 3, South Korea's Criminal Investigation Service (CIO) and police officers arrived at the residence in Seoul to arrest President Yun Seok-yol. According to Yonhap News Agency, investigators arrived at the residence at 7:20 a.m. local time and attempted to enter the premises at 8:00 a.m.
However, security guards and soldiers blocked their path. At 5:54 a.m. Tashkent time, investigators managed to break through two lines of military personnel, but the guards ensured that the president was not allowed into the inner area.
45 special units and 2,700 police officers were deployed to maintain order at the presidential residence.
Also, 1,200 supporters of Yun Seok-yol gathered to demand the president's protection and the lifting of the impeachment. The supporters clashed with the police.
For your information, the Seoul Western District Court confirmed an arrest warrant for Yun Seok-yol on December 3. The president was removed from power due to his decision to impose martial law, which was deemed unconstitutional. A warrant was also issued to search the presidential residence and other locations.
