Saudi Arabia announces that the first day of Eid al-Adha will fall on Friday, June 6

Saudi Arabia's official news agency SPA reported that the country's Supreme Court has confirmed the start of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, the month in which the hajj pilgrimage is performed and Eid al-Adha is celebrated.

The announcement notes that the first day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah 1446 AH falls on Wednesday, May 28. Also:

  • 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, the Day of Arafah - Thursday, June 5;
  • The 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, the first day of Eid al-Adha, falls on Friday, June 6.

On this occasion, Muslims were called upon to "do deeds that please Allah" and prayers were offered for "forgiveness of sins" and "ease and acceptance in the Hajj prayer."

According to the Hijri calendar, Eid al-Adha begins on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah after the Fajr prayer and continues until the afternoon prayer on the 13th.
