Russia removes Taliban from list of terrorist organizations
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has lifted the ban on the Taliban's activities in the country, RIA Novosti reported.
The ruling issued by Judge Oleg Nefedov states: "The administrative appeal of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation is hereby granted."
It is noted that the court hearing was held behind closed doors.
We would like to remind you that earlier, at the end of March, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office appealed to the Supreme Court with a request to lift the current ban on the activities of the Taliban movement.
For your information, the Taliban seized power in 2021 after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
Since then, Russian authorities have repeatedly indicated that they may reconsider the movement's legal status.
