Russia and Iran sign agreement to jointly fight aggressors
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement in the Kremlin on Tuesday, which aims to strengthen cooperation in security and defense. The document, published on the Kremlin's official website, states that "if one of the parties is attacked, the other party must not provide any military assistance to the aggressor and must contribute to the resolution of any disputes arising in accordance with the UN Charter and other relevant norms of international law."
The agreement also stipulates that Moscow and Tehran will jointly oppose the use of unilateral coercive measures, including those of an extraterritorial nature. The agreement described the introduction of such measures as "a violation of international law and an unfriendly act."
"The parties to the agreement are also taking steps to limit the dissemination of information that could be used by third parties to introduce and enforce such measures," the document states.
The agreement stipulates that "the intelligence and security services of the parties will exchange information and experience and further enhance the level of cooperation" in order to strengthen national security and combat threats.
