Qatar wants to gift Trump a "flying palace" based on a Boeing 747
The US and Qatari governments are in talks to provide Donald Trump with a luxury Boeing 747 jet belonging to the Qatari royal family for temporary use. The plane could also be donated to Trump's presidential library when his term ends.
The news comes ahead of Trump's official visit to Qatar. The plane, known as the "Flying Palace," is set to be equipped with special equipment and security systems for the president's use. The deal, which could cost up to $400 million, is raising legal and ethical questions in the United States.
On Sunday, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said in a statement that "any gifts received from foreign governments are received in full compliance with the law," and stressed that the Trump administration is "committed to full transparency."
