Qatar, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia hold talks with Syria's new administration
Senior diplomats from Qatar, Jordan and Saudi Arabia met in Damascus to hold talks with Syria's new administration and discuss the country's post-war reconstruction. The countries are forging new diplomatic ties to rebuild Syria and strengthen future cooperation after the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
A diplomatic delegation led by Qatar's foreign minister arrived in Damascus on Monday, becoming the first Qatar Airways plane to land in Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime two weeks ago. Qatar also became the second country, after Turkey, to reopen its embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majid al-Ansari said that the country's delegation visited to clarify Qatar's firm position on providing comprehensive assistance to Syria.
The visits are part of a series of high-level diplomatic engagements aimed at promoting negotiations and stability with Syria's transitional government after years of civil war.
