Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that he will nominate a candidate for the 2024 presidential election . According to Russian mass media, Putin announced this at the ceremony of awarding medals to soldiers in the Kremlin Palace.
"I won't hide it, there are different opinions at different times. But now you are right, now is the time to make a decision. I will run for the position of the President of the Russian Federation," Putin said at a meeting with Russian heroes in the Kremlin.
The Council of Federations met yesterday to determine the date of the presidential election and decided to hold the election on March 17, 2024.
The previous presidential elections in Russia were held on March 18, 2018, and Vladimir Putin was elected president with 76.69 percent of the vote.
Vladimir Putin will participate in the 2024 elections as a candidate for the fifth time.
