Former US President Barack Obama advised Muslims concerned about the ongoing conflict in Palestine not to trust Republican candidate Donald Trump, citing Trump's 2017 strict restrictions on immigration from Muslim countries.

"If you're a Muslim American and you're upset about what's happening in the Middle East, why should you believe the person who imposed the Muslim ban [for citizens of a number of Muslim countries entering the United States?'' .] and you have to support someone who has repeatedly implied that you are not part of American society," Barack Obama said in a speech to supporters of Kamala Harris .

The statement comes amid Trump's recent efforts to garner support from Muslims. A few days ago, Trump spoke passionately about his relationship with Michigan Muslims .

According to Trump, he is doing better than Kamala Harris among the Muslim community because of his "support for a ceasefire" in the Middle East.

"They [Muslims] just want peace, they want peace, and that's great," Trump said at the time.

According to an Arab News and YouGov poll published in October, Donald Trump has an advantage over Kamala Harris among Arab American voters: 45 percent of respondents said they would vote for Trump, while 43 percent said they were most likely to vote for Harris.

The poll 's results are similar to those previously released by the Arab American Institute, which showed Trump at 42 percent and Harris at 41 percent among Arab Americans.

Let us remind you that in 2017, President Donald Trump adopted the name "Muslim ban" ("Ban on Muslims") and adopted a number of decisions restricting the entry of citizens of several Muslim countries, including Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Somalia, Nigeria and other countries.
