Niger wants to cut ties with Ukraine, accusing it of supporting terrorists
Niger has announced that it is severing diplomatic relations with Ukraine, accusing Kiev of supporting terrorist groups. Earlier, the government of Mali announced the same decision.
The government of Niger declared its full solidarity with the government and people of Mali and announced that it would sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine with immediate effect.
An official representative of Niger's government announced that it intends to ask the United Nations Security Council to hold a special meeting to discuss Ukraine's "aggression".
According to France-24, Niger and Mali are governed by military governments that came to power as a result of a coup d'état. Soon after, both of these countries renounced their defense treaties with France and turned to Russia for military assistance.
On August 5, the transitional government of Mali announced the decision to sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine . This was caused by the fact that the ambassador of Ukraine in Senegal confirmed the involvement of Kiev in an attack on government troops and mercenaries of the Russian private military company "Wagner" in Mali.
