New commander appointed for Israeli army, operations intensify in West Bank
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appointed Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir as the new commander of the country's defense forces. Upon taking office, he stressed that 2025 would be a year of active military operations and that the goal was to achieve a complete victory over Hamas.
Netanyahu said in a meeting with the new commander that the Israeli army will continue operations in Gaza and strengthen security measures in the West Bank . According to him, Israel will not stop fighting Hamas , and the defense army will play an important role in this process.
Eyal Zamir, for his part, said that the Israeli army would further expand military operations and take additional measures to ensure the country's security. There are reports of increased operational activity in the West Bank, as well as search and arrest operations in several areas.
The international community is concerned about these Israeli decisions and the escalating situation in Gaza. At the same time, the likelihood of further escalation of the conflict across the region is assessed as high.
