Netanyahu's party ally: We knew how to defeat big enemies, but we can't defeat Hamas

Netanyahu's party ally: Israeli government is not defeating Hamas, MP criticizes plans

"Israel is not defeating Hamas, there are big differences between us"

Amit Halevi, a member of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ruling Likud party, sharply criticized the government. He said that "the government is not defeating Hamas, the plans are not enough." He also criticized the performance of Defense Minister Katz.

Amit Halevi told the Times of Israel: "Israel is not capable of defeating Hamas. There are indescribable differences between us and our enemies. We knew how to defeat our major enemies in previous wars, but we are not defeating Hamas."

"Netanyahu has no real plan"

According to the MP, the Netanyahu government is not talking about "complete victory" but rather about "looting, weakening and neutralizing." He said: "A real and original plan is needed to defeat Hamas." According to him, the ground offensive has also not been planned sufficiently.

Amit Halevi also criticized Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Katz for "acting inappropriately." He opposed the government's plan to issue an "urgent call-up order" to reservists, and was removed from the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee for this.
