Netanyahu declared the Golan Heights "an integral part of Israel."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Golan Heights, which belong to Syria, will forever remain "an integral part of Israel." Taking advantage of the situation in Syria, Israel captured Mount Hermon, which is of strategic importance in the region, without a fight.
The Golan Heights, under Israeli occupation since 1967, "will forever remain an integral part of Israel." Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced this at a press conference on the Golan Heights.
Netanyahu stated that Israel's military presence in the Golan Heights "guarantees the security and sovereignty" of the country.
Netanyahu recalled that US President-elect Donald Trump's administration recognized Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights in 2019, and thanked Trump for that.
Israel also captured Mount Hermon, 40 km from Damascus. Former Zionist pilot and publicist Naftali Hazoni spoke about the strategic importance of Mount Hermon, occupied by TsAXAL.
He said that Israel captured Hermon, Syria's highest mountain at 2,814 meters, and gained the ability to easily fire artillery at Damascus, which is only 40 km away.
For decades, Israel's northern defenses lay in the shadow of Syria's Mount Hermon. The most important natural fortress in the region is now in the hands of Israel. Israel did it quietly, moving into abandoned Syrian positions and capturing them without a fight.
Previously, Israeli radars had a critical blind spot beyond Mount Hermon and parts of Lebanon from their positions on Mount Meron. Low-flying Iranian drones have exploited this vulnerability to repeatedly infiltrate Israel.
Now, Israeli radars on Mount Hermon can see as far as Syria and Lebanon, providing early warning of low-flying aircraft and drones. Israeli intelligence can also use the peak to deploy sensors to conduct surveillance and intercept enemy communications.
The mountains also provide ideal protection for Israeli commanders and spies, who can now more freely enter Syria and carry out covert missions. At sunrise, Mount Hermon casts a shadow over Hezbollah's strongholds in southern Lebanon, blocking the main route to their northern stronghold in the Bekaa Valley. A number of Hezbollah smuggling routes north of Hermon have been closed. Whether it's ISIS, ISIS, Iran, or Hezbollah, hostile forces advancing toward Israel will now be vulnerable to Israeli drones, surface-to-surface missiles, and laser-guided bombs. The people of northern Israel will be able to breathe freely knowing that Israel controls the peak.
