Muhammad is the most popular name in Berlin

The name "Muhammad" was the most popular name for boys in the German cities of Berlin and Brandenburg in 2024, News reports.

For girls, the names "Emilia" and "Noa" are popular. They are followed by "Sofia" and "Emma." Despite changing places every year, these names always remain at the top of the list.

There were no changes in the list of boys' names. "Muhammad" retained the top spot, as in 2023, followed by "Matteo" and "Elias."

It was also the most popular name in England and Wales in 2023. In France, the name Karim took first place.

More than 5.5 million Muslim immigrants live in Germany. There are also non-immigrant Muslims in the country, who make up about 5 percent of the population.
