More than 100 mass graves discovered 20 meters deep in Damascus

Anadolu Agency has captured footage of what is believed to be a mass grave in Husseiniya, near the Syrian capital Damascus. The grave was discovered in an area near the airport, and contains more than 100 pits containing bodies buried one above the other.

Cemetery guard Ayman Khalil told the agency in an interview that security personnel were bringing bodies in large numbers and burying them in the ground. He said that about 150 bodies were brought in each time, and they were mostly buried at night.

Syrian Mazhar Araquzi said he and his three brothers were captured and tortured in 2014, and his brother died as a result of the torture. He decided to undergo a DNA test in the hope of finding his brother's body in a mass grave.

About 75,000 prisoners were killed in Assad prisons in the Husseiniya district of Damascus.

This news confirms allegations of human rights violations and torture under the Bashar Assad regime.
