Malcolm X's three daughters are suing the FBI, the CIA and the New York Police Department for their involvement in their father's 1965 murder and seeking $100 million in damages.
According to the lawsuit, government agencies and the police knew about and participated in the plot, but did not try to prevent it.

X's family says they have suffered years of uncertainty and a government cover-up of the above organizations' role in the crime.
Malcolm X, leader of the Nation of Islam movement, was assassinated by three men during a speech in New York on February 21, 1965 at the age of 39. Decades later, two of the convicts were acquitted and their sentences were declared "unfair". In 2022, New York paid them $26 million in compensation, and the state added $10 million.
