Malaysia has banned ships belonging to Israel from entering its ports
Malaysia has banned ships bound for Israel from its ports because of its oppression in Palestine
Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, because of " indifference to the Palestinians". It has announced that all Israeli-flagged and Israeli-owned ships are barred from entering its ports
Anwar Ibrahim said in a written statement that the ban was in response to Israel's attacks on Palestine and would take effect immediately.
The prime minister stated that since 2005, Israeli-owned companies and ships have been allowed to enter the ports by the decision of the former government, and noted that this decision has been revoked.
"This sanction is a response to Israel's ongoing massacres and atrocities against the Palestinian people, disregard for basic humanitarian principles and violations of international law, " said Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar Ibrahim informed that all the ships belonging to Israel's ZIM shipping company, which received entry permission in 2002, along with ships sailing under the Israeli flag, were banned from entering the country's ports for an indefinite period.
The head of the government assessed that this decision will not affect the commercial activities of Malaysia.
