Britain will withdraw from the European Council of Human Rights if the European Court of Justice restricts London's plan to deport illegal immigrants and refugees.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has stated that he is ready to support the request of conservative members of parliament and withdraw Britain from the European Human Rights Council. He noted that London will take this step if the European Court blocks Britain's plan to deport illegal immigrants and refugees to Rwanda.

"I believe that all plans comply with all our international obligations, including the Convention on Human Rights. But I believe that ensuring border security and control over illegal migration is more important than membership in a foreign court, because it is the basis for our state sovereignty," the politician noted.

Conservative right-wing MPs have long called for the European Council to leave the European Council of Human Rights to implement a series of laws that violate human rights and have angered human rights activists.

At the beginning of the year, the judges of the European Court of Justice estimated that the British Prime Minister's plan may be in conflict with the Convention on Human Rights. It is noteworthy that London was one of the creators of this convention in 1953.
