Israel launches new armed offensive in Gaza

On May 18, the Israeli army announced the start of a new armed offensive in the Gaza Strip. This operation was called "Gideon's Chariots."

The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reported that large-scale armed operations have been launched in northern and southern Gaza over the past day with the help of additional reservists. The army said that "dozens of terrorists have been eliminated, terrorist infrastructures have been hit and are currently being deployed at key points."

According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, three public hospitals in the northern part of the territory have been closed. At least 130 people have been killed in overnight airstrikes. Israeli strikes have killed 464 Palestinians in the past week.

One of the Israeli overnight strikes targeted a camp for displaced people in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, killing women and children, wounding dozens, and setting several tents on fire.

Later, an Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza, which was partially operational, also ceased operations due to artillery shelling in the area.
