Israel is confiscating 24,000 dunams - 2,400 hectares of land in the occupied West Bank "to expand settlements". According to the Israeli press, this is one of the largest annexations in recent years.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a representative of far-right forces, announced the confiscation of 24,000 dunams (2,400 hectares) of land in the occupied West Bank. According to him, these territories were annexed and declared a "state" for the expansion of Israeli settlements.
According to Israel's Channel 14, it is one of the largest annexations in recent years. According to the plaque, "the decision covers about half of the land declared open since the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1993." According to the publication, the total volume of such areas did not exceed 50,000 dunams until recently.
The Israeli authorities have not yet made an official statement in this regard.
There are 451,000 Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank and 230,000 in East Jerusalem. These actions aimed at seizing Palestinian lands are illegal under international law.
Israeli settlers regularly attack Palestinian villages and settlements, worsening the living conditions of the local population.
Since October 7, 2023, 805 Palestinians, including 167 children, have been killed in Israeli military and settler attacks in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
