Israel follows US in withdrawing from UN Human Rights Council

Israel has officially withdrawn from the UN Human Rights Council, the country's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced.

He noted that the Council has been taking a unilateral stance against Israel, while providing protection to states that violate human rights.

The HRC (Human Rights Council) is treating Israel unfairly, Saar said. According to him, the Council has adopted more than 100 resolutions condemning Israel, which is more than the total number of resolutions adopted against Iran, Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela.

Israeli officials accused the UN Council of promoting anti-Semitism.

Israel's decision came a day after Donald Trump's decree to withdraw the United States from the UN Human Rights Council.

It should be recalled that the United States withdrew from the Human Rights Council in 2018, during the Trump presidency.
