Israel demolishes an Arab village for the 236th time

Israel has demolished the Bedouin village of Araqib for the 236th time since the summer of 2010. The villagers rebuild their homes after each demolition.

Israeli forces have once again destroyed the Palestinian Bedouin village of Araqib in the Najaf desert, leaving the local population homeless.

According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israel first began demolishing Palestinian homes on July 27, 2021, depriving them of their right to reside.

The report notes that Israeli soldiers have demolished a village of Palestinians who have been trying to build shelters from wood and tents since 2010. The Bedouin village of Araqib has been demolished for the 236th time.

The village is home to 86 people from 22 Palestinian families.

Palestinian villagers continue to resist, rebuilding their homes after each destruction by Israeli soldiers.

Israel, like other villages in the Najaf area, does not provide Araqib with basic services such as electricity and water, and does not recognize the land ownership of the Palestinians living in the area.

According to Palestinian sources, the Tel Aviv administration has so far appropriated 11 million hectares of the 12 million hectares of the Najaf desert, which is home to 220,000 Palestinians.
