The Israeli military has arrested more than 70 medical workers of Kam al Advan hospital located in Jabalia city in the north of the Gaza Strip. This hospital remains the last operating medical institution in the region .

"Many medical personnel were arrested and taken to an unknown destination, more than 70 medical personnel, " said Dr. Hossam Abu-Safia, head of the pediatric department of the clinic.

Gaza's Ministry of Health said in a statement that Israel arrested more than 70 medical workers, including hospital director Dr. Ahmed Al-Kahlot.

The doctor said that there is no water and electricity in the polyclinic. "We are working with primitive lights to keep track of the patients in the hospital, " said the doctor.

He added that the Israeli military ordered all the men between the ages of 16 and 65 to leave the building, and later arrested all of them and took them to an unknown destination. The soldiers allowed only 6 doctors to stay to treat the patients. According to the doctor , hundreds of children, women and the elderly are staying in the hospital.

The area of the hospital was heavily bombed on December 12, after which Israeli troops stormed it . Abu Safiya assessed the situation as "very dangerous".

Also, on December 11, it was reported that Israeli tank shells hit the maternity ward of the hospital. As a result of the impact, two women were killed , and two others were so badly injured that their legs had to be amputated.

The UN and major international human rights organizations criticized Israel's actions and called the attacks on Gaza hospitals unacceptable. Health officials warn that the sector's health system is almost non-functional and cannot handle any more pressure.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he was "deeply concerned by reports of a raid on the Kam al -Adwan hospital in the Gaza Strip after several days of siege".
