Iraq has met the requirements for WTO membership
Iraqi Trade Minister Atr al- Ghurari officially confirmed that Baghdad has fulfilled the necessary conditions for membership in the World Trade Organization after completing economic reforms and improving the investment environment . The country applied for WTO membership in 2004.
Iraqi Trade Minister Atr al-Ghurari has confirmed that Iraq has fulfilled the necessary conditions for membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) after completing economic reforms and improving the investment climate.
Al-Ghurari said that Baghdad completed the issues related to goods and services in accordance with the deadlines for integration into the international trade system.
"The government of Iraq expressed its desire to become a member of the organization after applying for WTO membership in 2004. "Iraq must become a member of the multilateral international trade system in order to occupy a key place in the world economy," he said.
The Iraqi official added that Iraq seeks to expand its trade and economic ties around the world to create new opportunities for cooperation.
Today, the WTO has 164 members.
