Iran delivers first drone carrier aircraft to Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps

Today, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy officially received the first drone carrier in its history - the Shahid Bagheri.

The ceremony was attended by Corps Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami and Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri.

The Shahid Bagheri is capable of carrying and operating several squadrons of unmanned fighter aircraft. It can fly 22,000 nautical miles (40,700 km) year-round without refueling. It was designed to increase military power in the Persian Gulf and distant international waters.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps recently unveiled its first underground missile base and displayed new missiles. Iran also unveiled a new domestically produced drone model.

This step shows that Iran sees drone technology as an important tool in its naval strategy.
