Iran is seeking help from Islamic countries in retaliating against Israel for the killing of Ismail Haniya, the head of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Hamas movement. Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Ali Bagheri Kani, said this in a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hossein Brahim Taha.

Kani said Iran expects other Islamic countries to support Tehran's "legitimate right" to retaliate for Haniya's assassination.

"Islamic countries are expected to support Iran's inalienable and legitimate right to respond legally and necessary to this aggression, as Iran's actions are aimed not only at protecting its sovereignty and national security, but also at ensuring stability and security in the entire region," he said.

Ismail Haniya was killed on July 31 when a controlled bomb hit the residence of a Palestinian politician during his visit to Iran. He came to the country to participate in the inauguration of the new president.
