Instagram increases restrictions for teens

Engadget reported that Meta is introducing new restrictions on Instagram for users under 16.

Under the company's new policy, teenagers will no longer be able to use the live broadcast feature without parental permission. They will also be prohibited from turning off the auto-dimming feature in private messages.

According to the source, the general restriction, which will also apply to Facebook and Messenger platforms, will first be tested in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

Recall that Meta introduced the "Teen Accounts" initiative in September 2024, aimed at ensuring the safety of teenagers. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company would make significant investments in its platforms for this purpose.
