In 56 years, 100 million Muslims performed Hajj

This 1445 AH Hajj season was the 34th largest in Hajj history since the Bureau of Statistics began keeping records of the Hajj in 1968. This is reported by Al-Arabiya.
According to 56 years of statistics, the total number of pilgrims has exceeded 100 million, and countless numbers have come to perform the Umrah (minor Hajj).
For the first time in 1968, the number of pilgrims exceeded one million and reached 1,079,760. In 1974 Hijri, the number of pilgrims exceeded 2 million for the first time and reached 2,079,689. In 2012, the number of pilgrims exceeded 3 million for the first time, which was the only time in the history of Hajj.
3 million 161 thousand 573 pilgrims were registered this year, which is a record number. In 33 seasons before that, the number of pilgrims exceeded 1,833,164 people. In the 1994 Hajj season, the number of pilgrims was 1 million 834 thousand 780, which was close to the number of pilgrims of the same year.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of pilgrims was limited: in 2020, the number of pilgrims was only 10,000, in 2021, 58,000, and in 2022, the number of pilgrims reached 926,062.
After the pandemic, these numbers began to increase again, and last year (1444 AH) the number of pilgrims was slightly higher than this year, at 1,845,045.
