Gaza tribunal begins work: first public session to be held in Sarajevo

An independent international initiative called the Gaza Tribunal has been launched to investigate violence and human rights abuses in Gaza. The tribunal will hold its first public sessions in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from May 26 to 29.

Main areas of the meetings:

colonial genocide and occupation policies;

forced evictions;

the apartheid system and its consequences;

criminalization of peaceful demonstrations and protests.

The meetings will be attended by international human rights activists, human rights experts, scholars, representatives of civil society and non-governmental organizations.

The tribunal was established on the basis of humanitarian and moral criteria and is headed by former UN Special Rapporteur Richard Falk.

All sessions will be broadcast live on the internet. The final statement and decision will be announced at the final session in Istanbul in October 2025.
