French troops left Niger
French soldiers ceremonially handed over the French military base in the capital Niamey to the government of Niger.
Of the 1,500 soldiers serving in Niger, 1,346 have already returned to France, while the remaining 154 have left the country.
Nigerians who wanted to celebrate the departure of the French soldiers also gathered at the military base and celebrated.
On the other hand, the French embassy in Niamey has been closed since December 22 with the reason that "the embassy could not carry out its duties due to the restrictions of the Niger authorities."
