French and Ukrainian presidents meet in Paris

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in France on an official visit on March 26. In Paris, he met with French President Emmanuel Macron and held talks on assistance to Ukraine and its future prospects, Gazeta.ru reports.

According to RBC-Ukraine, Zelensky is also expected to participate in the "Coalition of the Willing" summit taking place today.

The French President emphasized the need to confirm and further define specific commitments to short-term support for Ukraine as the main goal of the summit.

A short while ago, Reuters reported that European countries were abandoning the idea of sending troops to Ukraine and were looking for alternative ways to provide assistance.

According to the publication, this idea seemed attractive when the situation in Ukraine was relatively good, but now, due to strong Russian opposition and complex logistics, the plan is less likely to be implemented.

Previously, the Russian Federation Council had sharply criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron's plans to send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.
