Former Israeli Defense Minister Admits War Crimes in Gaza, Warns Soldiers of Arrest Risk
Tel Aviv, January 9 – Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon has made a significant statement about the Israeli government's involvement in war crimes committed in the Gaza Strip, acknowledging the risk of arrest abroad for Israeli soldiers and urging them to be vigilant.
Yaalon said soldiers must be careful to avoid accusations during overseas trips. He opposed the release of footage taken during operations in Gaza, saying such evidence could lead to actions such as evacuations and rebuilding villages being criminalized.
Ynet published a special guide for military personnel on Wednesday on how to avoid being arrested abroad. The guide, titled "What to do if you are arrested abroad and what to check before flying," includes advice from Nick Kaifman, a defense attorney at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
These incidents have further intensified the international community's criticism of the Israeli military and highlighted the need to pay special attention to legal issues related to war crimes.
