Egyptian youth storm state security building

A video has been circulating on social media showing a group of Egyptian youths attacking the National Security Service building in Cairo. The Egyptian Interior Ministry has denied the reports.

Nevertheless, a letter purportedly belonging to two young men who were allegedly involved in this attack has been circulating on social media.

It says:

"If this news has reached you, it means we were killed or destroyed by regime forces.

We attempted to take control of the fourth floor of the State Security Office, located in the police station in al-Masra (a neighborhood in the Helwan district), with the aim of freeing prisoners, filming the officers using force there, and the torture devices.

"Atrocious crimes are committed here. We do not belong to any party or group. This was an attempt to awaken the people, start negotiations with the regime, and stop the genocide in Gaza," the letter said.

Another video that has been shared shows two individuals said to have participated in the attack - Muhsin Muhammad Mustafa and his close relative Ahmad Sharif - inside a security building.

One of the activists, Anas Habib, commented on this incident as follows:

"These young men sacrificed themselves and tried their best to awaken the proud Egyptians and save the people of Gaza. If we leave them alone, if we allow the regime to kill them - it will be a disgrace, and we will answer for it before God."
