Egypt fears Gaza war could spill over into its territory

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Whitkoff, and expressed concern that the war in Gaza could escalate into a wider regional conflict.

During the interview, Shoukry said that Israeli military operations are redrawing the demographic map of the region and that the Zionists are pushing Palestinians towards the border, threatening Egypt's national security.

In addition, according to sources, Cairo has also criticized the US administration's approach to resolving the conflict. In particular, it has not hidden that Washington is also to blame for the stalled peace talks.
