It is worth noting that rumors about the 72-year-old Emomali Rahmon's abdication from power have been actively discussed recently.

According to sources, tensions are growing within Tajikistan's political elite amid rumors of a possible power transition. In particular, the conflict between Emomali Rahmon's two potential successors - his son, Rustam Emomali, the speaker of the upper house of parliament, and his daughter, Ozoda Rahmon, the head of the presidential administration.
