Car drives into crowd in Liverpool, 47 injured

A man drove a car into people on Water Street in the centre of Liverpool, England. The incident left 47 people injured, 27 of whom were taken to hospital, two seriously. Three adults and a child were trapped under the car.

Police have arrested a 53-year-old white English man from Liverpool. An investigation is ongoing, but the incident is not being treated as terrorism.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the situation "appalling" and thanked the police and emergency services.

Merseyside Police has asked the public not to spread rumours and misinformation.
