On Saturday evening, July 6, the governments of three West African countries - Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger - signed an agreement on the establishment of the Confederation of the Union of Sahel States. This was reported by Agence France-Presse based on the statement of the leaders of these countries.
The signing ceremony took place at the end of the first summit of the Union of Sahel States, which was held in Niamey, the capital of Niger, and was attended by the leaders of the three countries.
According to the document, these countries will create a single investment bank and stabilization fund, coordinate diplomatic efforts, and pool resources for joint projects in the fields of agriculture, processing industry, and energy.
It should be noted that the power in all these countries is in the hands of military juntas who have carried out a coup d'état.
