Boycott: Starbucks reports 46% drop in sales in Malaysia

Starbucks reported a net loss of 70.3 million ringgit (about 15.7 million US dollars) in Malaysia for the six-month period ended December 2024.

The boycott is linked to anti-Israel sentiment in Muslim countries, including Malaysia, due to the genocide in the Gaza Strip, as local consumers reject brands that support Israel.

The company's revenue fell by more than 46 percent compared to last year.

More than 10% of the country's 400 Starbucks stores have been temporarily closed.

Analysts predict that losses will continue to grow and that expected profits could fall by 15 percent over the next two years.
