After 25 years, the number of Muslims and Christians in Russia will be equal
Oleg Bondarenko, the head of the Progressive Policy Foundation, said that in 25 years, the number of Muslim and Christian population in Russia will be equal. According to him, this is due not only to the effect of migration, but also to "more children being born in some areas" where Muslims live.
Soon, every second resident of Russia will be a Muslim. That is, the number of Muslims in Russia will be equal to the number of Christians after a quarter of a century. Oleg Bondarenko, director of the Progressive Policy Foundation , announced this at a press conference in Moscow, PolitNavigator reports.
"Considering the current demographic situation, after 25 years (which is not far at all) the population of the country will be equal in terms of the proportion of Muslims and Christians. This is not only due to the effect of migration, but also, in principle , to demography. You can easily see more babies being born in some areas. In particular, because there is a tradition of life on earth , " said Bondarenko.
He believes that the country needs a political party that will try to create a "one-tier Russia" to solve demographic problems.
For information, as of January 2024, the population of Russia was 146,150,789. At the same time in 2023, the population of the Russian Federation was 146,447,424. That is, the population of the country decreased by 296,635 people in one year.
According to some sources, Muslims make up more than 8 percent of the population of Russia, and in most cases they are not immigrants, but local residents. In particular, Tatars, Bashkirs, Avars, Chechens, Lazgins, Kabardins, Dargins, Karachays, Bulgarians, Circassians, Kumyks, Ingush and some Ossetians believe in Islam.
