Afghanistan will no longer issue passports to convicts and debtors
The list of people who cannot obtain a passport in Afghanistan has been expanded.
According to Khaama Press, the neighboring country's passport office has introduced new rules that prohibit convicts, unaccompanied minors, and those with unpaid debts or other obligations from traveling abroad and obtaining passports.
According to the publication, previously all citizens had the right to obtain a passport, and restrictions were applied only in certain criminal cases.
For your information, the national identity document in Afghanistan is called a "tazkira" and is used by the majority of the population. A passport is required for travel abroad.
