A meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council is taking place in the Kremlin under the chairmanship of Russian President Vladimir Putin. "First of all, I would like to emphasize that mutual cooperation within the CIS is one of the main priorities of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation," the Russian leader said while opening the meeting.

He noted that the CIS countries are Russia's closest neighbors, friends and strategic partners.

Earlier, the assistant of the Russian president, Yuriy Ushakov, announced that the leaders of the CIS countries will adopt a number of documents in the field of security at the summit in Moscow.

It is planned to adopt a number of documents in the field of security and law enforcement, in this regard special attention is paid to the cooperation program developed at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, Ushakov told journalists.
