9 people died as a result of a volcano explosion in Indonesia

At least 9 people, including a nun, died as a result of a volcanic eruption on the Indonesian island of Flores. There are currently 130 active volcanoes in the country.

According to the Indonesian Disaster Management Agency, a volcano has erupted on Mount Levotobi Laki Laki, located in Flores, one of the country's remote islands.

After the explosion, several houses, including a Christian temple, burned down in a nearby village, which was reached by the lava flow.

According to the authorities, 8 people, including a nun, were killed, and one person is missing.

A series of eruptions have occurred in the region since last week, with the government raising the alert status for Mount Levotobi Laki Laki to the highest level.

The volcano has been spewing dark brown ash up to 2,000 meters high every day since last week.

Indonesia has 130 active volcanoes and is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire earthquake and volcanic zone.
