76 Spanish universities cut ties with Israel
Due to student protests, 76 Spanish universities have severed ties with Israeli universities, according to the Confederation of Spanish Universities.
The decision comes as pro-Palestinian students began camping on university campuses this week following protests.
In response to the protests, the confederation pledged to increase cooperation with Palestinian research and higher education institutions, and expand volunteer and refugee assistance programs.
For information, the Confederation of Spanish Universities includes 50 public universities and 27 private universities in Spain .
A day after the University of Barcelona voted to sever all ties with Israel, the University of the Basque Country announced the same move in April.
Earlier we reported that Ireland's Trinity College agreed to cancel contracts with Israeli universities following student protests.
