The number of victims in the clashes in northwestern Pakistan has reached 37 people, more than 150 people have been injured, AFP reports.

Land conflicts between groups living in Kurram are a regular occurrence. In particular, 35 people lost their lives in the armed conflict that broke out in July this year. After the incident, peace was reached through the mediation of the authorities and local elders. Meanwhile, fighting started again in 10 districts.

"The conflict that started with a dispute over land turned into a large-scale armed conflict with the use of automatic weapons and artillery," one of the members of the local administration told reporters on condition of anonymity.

According to an official of the Peshawar administration, 28 houses were damaged. The conflict is fueled by the religious divide between its participants, some of whom are Sunni and some of whom are Shiites.
