The importance of intention in sacrificing a sacrifice
When the person performing the sacrifice slaughters the animal, he must intend to perform the obligatory act of worship - the sacrifice. Because without intention, the sacrifice cannot be performed.
A person obtains meat by slaughtering an animal. In order to achieve nearness to Allah through this act, there must be an intention. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said in a hadith:
– “Actions are according to intentions. Every person will get what he intended.” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
– “Unintentionally "There is no reward for anyone who has no good deeds." (Narrated by Bayhaqi)
Al-Kasani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The action referred to here is one that can be used to establish kinship. Therefore, the animal slaughtered is considered a sacrifice only with the intention."
What if one of the partners' intentions is not sacrifice?
Hanafi scholars say that it is not permissible for someone who does not intend to establish kinship to be a partner in the slaughter of animals that can be slaughtered on a shared basis. That is, someone whose only intention is to obtain meat from slaughtering an animal cannot be a partner in the sacrifice of others.
If the partners intend to sacrifice a camel or a cow, and one of them does not intend to perform the ritual of sacrifice, but only to obtain meat, then the sacrifice of all the partners is invalid. Because the ritual of sacrifice is performed by shedding blood. And the blood that is shed cannot be divided as a share.
