"For now, I can say that there will be a visit to Belarus today and tomorrow, and on Sunday and Monday to Uzbekistan," Ushakov said (quoting Interfax). He added that the parties plan to sign several joint documents.

Putin made his first foreign visit to China during his fifth presidency. He arrived in Beijing on May 16 and held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, first in limited and then in expanded format. Putin chose Belarus as the second country to visit; he will go there on the evening of May 23.

The issue of the Russian president's visit to Uzbekistan was also discussed with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a resident of Uzbekistan, on May 21.
