Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud expressed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation during a telephone conversation. This was announced in the statement of the office of the President of Iran.

According to the statement, the Iranian president explained that he could not attend the extraordinary joint summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League held in Riyadh on Monday due to important internal affairs. In his place, the first vice president of Iran, Mohammad Reza Arif, represented Iran at the event.

Masoud Pezeshkian expressed confidence that the summit will bring significant results in solving problems such as Israel's military operations in the region, the Gaza Strip and the ongoing conflicts in Lebanon.

The Iranian president also noted that his country is ready to further strengthen bilateral relations, which is in response to the two leaders' desire to expand cooperation in various fields.

The crown prince of Saudi Arabia, in turn, thanked Masoud Pezeshkian for the call, expressed his understanding of the situation in Iran and wished success to the Iranian leadership.

The crown prince noted that the relations between the two countries are at a turning point, expressed hope that bilateral relations will reach the maximum level in all areas, and during his visit to Riyadh, negotiations will be held with Mohammad Reza Arif.

The leaders of the two countries expressed their readiness to conduct mutual state visits in the near future.

Saudi Arabia and Iran restored diplomatic relations in April 2023 after a seven-year freeze, brokered by China.
