The government of Niger has banned the French Orano company from developing the Imuraren uranium mine, AFP reports, citing the organization's report.
About a week after the start of preparatory work at the mine, the permit to operate the mine was revoked
It is expected that the reserves of the "Imuraren" mine will reach 200,000 tons and become one of the largest mines in the world.
Earlier, the media reported that the leadership of Niger is dissatisfied with the French plan to develop the mine, which was approved for development 15 years ago. Until now, Orano continues to mine uranium at the Somair mine in northern Niger.
In November, the French president visited Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and discussed cooperation in the field of uranium mining with the leaders of these countries.
